Baby Naming & Adoption Celebrations

To mark the name given to a baby or young child is a centuries-old tradition.

It is a rite which many religions and cultures have their own way of celebrating, but more and more, people would like to give their baby or child a more independently styled ceremony in their own way, confirming the baby’s name, and welcoming them into their family, at the same time giving him or her, their own personal identity.

The ceremony is also a chance to promote the special relationship between parents, grandparents, older siblings and step-siblings, and the extended family in general. This has given the option for a couple to have anything they desire; containing religion or not, making their own personal vows and wishes for the baby or child in a tailor-made service, involving friends and family, in a less formal situation than that of a traditional baptism or christening.

It can be held anywhere, at any time of day, and can contain contributions or symbolic actions from anyone you choose and who would like to participate. Vows can be made; music played, religious content included, or anything you wish, to form a celebration to welcome your child into your family and your close network of friends.

As with all my services and ceremonies, I can meet with you, discuss exactly what you feel you would like in the ceremony and put together a script that you have the chance to read before we finalise it. I will then be there on the day, at the venue of your choice, to lead the service on your behalf.
